Charity video game event at Marist today
Marist College's James J. McCann Recreation Center, normally the home of the Red Foxes' athletic teams, has been transformed into a gaming heaven. Today at 1 p.m., Marist will host the fourth-annual "Gaming for Hope," a 12-hour long event with video game tournaments, recreational gaming, computer gaming and chess. "Everything's on schedule, we're all set to go," said Sean O'Connor, the president of the Marist Computer Society and a senior at the school. "We have it broken up into different sections. There's a big square in the middle for console games. We have a few tables out for tabletop games; the chessclub will be there for part of the night. We have two rows of tables ready for networking, people can bring in their PCs." The event is absolutely free of charge to attend, no matter how long you stay.

DIGHENIS Morphous survival battle took a severe blow on Saturday after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Enosis Neon Paralimniou. Microsoft Corp. may have competition from Google Inc. if it seeks to acquire Web advertising company DoubleClick Inc., The Wall Street Journal reported Monday. Last week, the Journal reported that DoubleClick was exploring a sale with the help of investment bank Morgan Stanley and was in active talks with several companies. Microsoft was reported to be interested in buying the online advertising company for up to $2 billion. The paper, citing unidentified people familiar with the situation, said Monday that Google has emerged as a contender, and Yahoo Inc. and Time Warner Inc.'s AOL division also have talked with DoubleClick, which is owned by private-equity group Hellman and Friedman.
