| Two additional downloadable games to XBLA/PSN from Capcom
A shooter and a board game are both headed to download services for Microsoft and Sony later this year. Capcom is releasing Talisman, the virtual edition of the fantasy tabletop game, and Rocketmen: Axis of Evil, an arcade shooter. Talisman will feature online and offline play with up to four people and allow players to crawl dungeons, cast spells, and do battle. The game will make the board come to life in 3D and include animations that reflect different conditions across the fictional world in which the game is set. Character development will also play an important role, just as it does in the board game. Rocketmen will also be 4-player compatible, and will throw everyone into chaotic stages to free the Solar System as part of the Alliance of Free Planets. Gamers may recognize Rocketmen as the constructible card game where players build spaceships out of the game's cards and then head into space for adventure.
Racing in virtual Shanghai
For those expats out there who've ever wondered what it might be like to get behind the wheel of an automobile here in Shanghai, this is your lucky day. Thanks to the USA Today, that bastion of impartial journalism and cutting-edge video game development, you can now race the streets of Shanghai on 10 circuits in one of five super charged hot rods—all for the low price of only US$19.99. Think of how much money you will save on gas and hospital bills not having to brave the actual motorways; the roads in virtual Shanghai can cause no serious physical harm. Unless you brave them for 72 straight hours in a net cafe, that is. You can check out the Shanghai Street Racer free trial or purchase the game if it tickles your fancy. This might be the closest you ever come to car racing in Shanghai, especially given the increasingly frustrating gridlock featured daily in the downtown area.

Carroll at home in NBA
CHICAGO -- Wishing for his phone to ring, then realizing that it never would the night of the 2003 NBA draft moved him to tears, but didn't tear him down. Being told by the New York Knicks on the eve of his rookie season in 2003 that he no longer was needed could have been a blow to the belief that he belonged. Stranded by a snowstorm in an Oregon airport after being waived by the Portland Trail Blazers later that winter might have been an omen. .
Orb API Gives Developers Freedom to Create, Enhance Desktop and ...
EMERYVILLE, Calif., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Orb Networks, whose free MyCasting service unlocks all digital content, including photos, music, TV and videos, on the home PC to be enjoyed on any Internet-enabled device, announced the release of the Orb 2.0 API. This open API allows developers and Orb users to use a set of Web services to seamlessly add Orb functionality directly in existing or new desktop and Web applications or "gadgets" using their favorite programming languages. US Army's computer game recruiting
Anti-recruitment groups are slamming a US Army deal to sponsor a computer war game channel, charging that real war is no game. In June, the Army is set to sponsor a channel at the Global Gaming League website, a popular spot for Internet computer game lovers. "It is part of this campaign for the last 20 years to invade youth culture with militarism," Project on Youth and Non-military Opportunities co-founder Rick Jahnkow told AFP. "It affects the way young people think. It affects their world view. That is a very dangerous thing." A first-person shooter game based on the army training manual will be a centerpiece of the channel, which will feature other games in the same genre. The "America's Army" game was released about five years ago and ranks in the top 10 most popular computer games of its kind, according to McCann World Group vice president Anders Ekman, who is handling the project for the Army.
